2019 began with the entry into force of the European Regulation on ship dismantling and the salvaging of their parts in a way that is more sustainable for the environment and for human health.
There are several scenarios opening up: during the year, the European Commission may decide to include some shipyards in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan in the European List: that is, the list of authorised shipyards. What reactions would that provoke among shipowners, shipyards and European environmentalists?
Will the judicial authorities of the Member States continue to crack down on shipowners who behave differently than the manner envisaged by the Regulation?
These questions will be examined in detail, one by one, during the conference.
